Twelve skiers skiing around 3 miles west of Stevens Pass Ski Area in an open out-of-bounds area were caught up in an avalanche that carried them 1500 to 2000 feet down the mountain. They were able to dig themselves out and were properly equipped. However, 3 began to have issues and had CPR performed on them, but they were not able to revive them. The weather overnight deposited over 2 feet of snow in the pass and the area was rated for high avalanche danger.
