Colorado Ski Area Snowmaking has Begun

Copper Mountain was this year’s first Colorado Ski Area to start making snow with an anticipated opening date of Nov 2nd.  Last night Loveland somehow managed to start making snow while Al over at Arapahoe Basin is waiting to hopefully tonight.  While Copper will not open early (I think) the race between Loveland and Arapahoe Basin will be interesting this year because of Loveland’s head start.  That being said, Arapahoe Basin sits higher and can hang in there for the good snow making nights.  Last year I went out with the Snow Making crews at Arapahoe Basin and learned what a cold job it can be first hand.  This year I hope to head out there on a Saturday and get some good footage of what’s going on and get a real story out about what goes into the Snowmaking effort to get a Ski Area opened.
